The Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau (GRCVB) has partnered with the Rome / Floyd County Library to record the oral history of the Civil War throughout the county.
Stories, both spoken and written, with be collected and then shared through the tourism office’s Civil War heritage website, www.thecivilwarinrome.org and shared at Civil War events throughout the anniversary.
Stories should relate to Rome or Floyd County in some way. Stories may reflect an ancestor’s involvement in the war, military action within the county or life during and after the war.
Oral stories should be under seven minutes and will be recorded on video. Oral stories can be recorded at the Rome / Floyd County Library on February 17 and 24 from 9a.m. – 11a.m. Appointments are required and may be made by calling the Rome Visitor Center at 706.295.5576.
Written stories should be less than 1,000 words. Stories may be submitted to civilwar@romegeorgia.org.
