Ceramics and pottery by Tesa DuPre will be on display from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Monday (Feb. 7) in the Moon Gallery at Berry College.
DuPre, a Rome resident, studied ceramics beginning in 1977 at Berry for four years as an auditing student before setting up her own studio and building a gas-fired kiln. She continues her education in clay through workshops, mainly at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. DuPre works with stoneware clay, which she mixes herself, and porcelain to make functional one-of-a-kind pots. Most of her work is wheel-thrown, but she also does some slab work and altering. DuPre’s forms and surface treatment are simple and casual and often reflect her love of the outdoors. Because she loves to fly fish for wild trout almost as much as she loves to make pots, fish often show up on her pots.
DuPre’s work has been exhibited in juried and invitational shows throughout the eastern U. S., and is in corporate and private collections worldwide. She will give a gallery talk at 7 p.m. Monday (Feb. 7.) The exhibit, which ends March 4, and gallery talk are free and open to the public.
