The Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau has partnered with the Rome Floyd County Library to present a Civil War Heritage Symposium Series throughout 2011.
The series celebrates Civil War heritage during the Sesquicentennial, or 150th anniversary, of the War Between the States.
Dan Roper, publisher and editor of Georgia Backroads, will present the first symposium on Thursday, January 27 at 6:30pm in the Coosa Room of Rome Floyd County Library . The symposium is free and open to the public.
Roper is a respected local author and historian with over 80 published articles on Georgia history and travel.
The future symposiums of the 2011 series will feature Barry Brown of the Georgia Civil War Commission, Zack Watters, local historian, and Margaret Hollingsworth and the Cochran Family, Civil War performers.
