New art market to debut in spring

ROME, GA. — The typical flowers and bright skies of this spring will be joined by Rome's newest event for local art, jewelry and food products. The Spring Art Market, a new arts bazaar, will take place March 31 - April 1 in the Rome Civic Center.

The show will feature artists, fine crafters, and handmade food products. All items will be handcrafted or homegrown in Georgia.

The event is free for attendees and will take place on Saturday, March 31 from 10am-5pm and Sunday, April 1 from 11am-4pm. The Rome Civic Center is located at 402 Civic Center Drive adjacent to the Rome - Floyd Visitor Center.

The Market is sponsored by the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Last Stop Gift Shop.

The spring event will build on the success of the Winter Art Market held December 2-3, 2011 in Rome. The Winter Art Market featured over 45 artists and welcomed nearly 1,000 patrons to the free event.

"We had so much success hosting our Winter Art Market because all of our art and products were completely made or grown in Georgia," said Charlene Mathis, manager of the Last Stop Gift Shop and Rome - Floyd Visitor Center. "Our spring show will include many more artists from around the state who have unique talents and skills."

Juried booths are available for $75 and applications are available in the Visitor Center or at www.RomeGeorgia.org.
