ROME, Ga.— The Berry College Theatre Company presents "The Santaland Diaries" by David Sedaris Thursday (Dec. 1) through Sunday (Dec. 4) at the E.H. Young Theatre.
The show will start at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $7 and the play is rated PG-13 due to graphic language.
The Santaland Diaries is a hilarious play where we get to see the perspective of a not so cheerful Macy’s elf during the Holiday crunch. Crumpet the Elf is a slacker who at first regards his job as simply humiliating, but once the thousands of visitors began pouring into the Santa shop, he quickly becomes bitter. The piece ends with yet another Santa being rushed into the workshop, but this one is different from the earlier lecherous and drunken ones. This Santa actually seems to care about and love the children who come to see him, startling our hero into an uncharacteristic moment of goodwill just before his employment runs out.
