GRCVB welcomes new team members
 
ROME, GA. —  The Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau welcomes Robin Shamblin and Luke Chaffin as customer service specialists with the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau (GRCVB) and the Last Stop Gift Shop.
 
Shamblin and Chaffin are responsible for assisting visitors to Rome & Floyd County in the Rome - Floyd Visitor Center and attending to customers in the gift shop.
 
"The two new additions to our team bring extremely different skill sets that will allow us to grow as a bureau and expand the operations of the visitor center and gift shop," said Lisa Smith, GRCVB executive director.  
 
Shamblin returns to the workforce after taking time off to care for her children. She previously worked at the Blue Ridge Area Health Education Center as a training coordinator for healthcare professionals in the Rome area.
 
Shamblin is a Rome native and graduate of Model High School and Shorter College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education.  Shamblin is a member of West Rome Baptist Church where she teaches Sunday school, a member of Coosa Country Club, a former Red Cross volunteer, and past president of Green Thumb Garden Club. She is married to Mark Shamblin and has two children, Sierra and Hamilton.
 
Chaffin comes to the GRCVB after working as assistant manager of the Georgia Highlands College Cartersville Campus Bookstore. Before his time in Cartersville, he worked as a promotions and production assistant for Salem Communications in Atlanta, owner of 104.7—The Fish and several other Atlanta-based radio stations.
 
Chaffin is originally from Douglas County, and is proud to call Rome his new home. Chaffin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Georgia State University, and a Certificate of Hospitality Administration from the Robinson College of Business. Chaffin is a member of Rome First United Methodist Church, has been involved as a patron with the Rome International Film Festival and a performer in the Junior Service League’s Follies.
