Tickets for the 2011 Empty Bowls of Rome benefit are now available for $20 at Harvest Moon and the Rome Visitors Center. The dinner will take place Tuesday, November 15th, 2011 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Rome Civic Center. The public is invited to attend. Participants will enjoy a soup and salad dinner and receive a bowl created by a local potter. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Rome Action Ministries. Last year’s event raised over $8,000 which was donated to the William S. Davies Homeless Shelter.
“Over 25 potters are participating in Empty Bowls this year in addition to students from Berry, Shorter and Earthworks Pottery,” says Jeri Jankovsky, Empty Bowls committee chair and ceramic artist. “The support of not only the local potters but the community at large is overwhelming and makes our goal of fighting hunger and helping those less fortunate attainable.”
Sponsors for the event include City of Rome, Earthworks Pottery, Garner and Glover, Greater Rome Visitors and Convention Bureau, Harvest Moon Cafe, Rome Area Council for the Arts, Rome Paper Company and Southeastern Mills.
As a new addition to this year’s event, guests who bring a canned good for donation will be entered into a drawing to win a handmade ceramic centerpiece. Chances will also be sold for $1.
