ROME, GA. — To welcome the winter of 2011, the Rome Civic Center will be blanketed in local arts, jewelry and fine crafts. The Winter Art Market, a new arts bazaar, will take place on December 2-3 and feature artists from around the State of Georgia.

The market is sponsored by the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Last Stop Gift Shop.

"We are looking for about 40 local artists from around Georgia to exhibit and sell their art at this new show," said Charlene Mathis, gift shop manager.

All artists and crafters, from fine painters to makers of local food products are encouraged to apply for the show.

"We want a great diversity of art and products at the show - the only requirement is that its Georgia Made or Georgia Grown," said Mathis.

The market will be open on Friday, December 2 from 12pm to 6pm and on Saturday, December 3 from 10am to 6pm. The artists will host prominent community members on Saturday evening during a private, VIP reception.
