OAK HILL AND ROME AREA COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS TO HOST SPRING FESTIVAL

ROME, GA. – Oak Hill and The Martha Berry Museum will partner with the Rome Area Council for the Arts (RACA) to present “Arts in the Gardens at Oak Hill,” a special day of arts, music and garden events is scheduled for Sunday, May 2 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.. The festival will feature artists and craftsmen from throughout the region, showcasing paintings and craft items with a nature or floral theme.  Other highlights will include booths with local vendors, musical performances by local groups surrounded by a “quilt garden” for patron to fully experience the excitement of spring surrounded by the spectacular beauty of the Oak Hill estate. Free garden educational demonstrations and lectures will be offered as well as guided tours of the Oak Hill formal gardens in full bloom.  Featured food products will include campus-grown beef and produce sold by Berry College’s Student-Operated Enterprises program.

The event will kick-off with a unique patron’s party, “The Firefly Fling,” on the evening of Saturday, May 1. The patron’s party will set the perfect tone for the event, providing those in attendance with the opportunity to enjoy Oak Hill’s beautiful formal gardens at twilight while getting a sneak peek of the featured artists and their work. The entire scene will be bathed in the glow of thousands of twinkling lights.

Oak Hill and The Martha Berry Museum is a popular attraction and the former home of Berry College founder Martha Berry (1865-1942). It is located at the intersection of Georgia Loop 1 and U.S. Highway 27 in Rome, Ga. More information is available via the Web at www.berry.edu/oakhill.
