FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Civil War tour sold out, new time added
ROME, GA. — Due to the popularity of Spirits of the Civil War: Rome's Riverways, the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau has added a 1:00pm tour on Sunday, October 23. The 3:00pm tour is sold out.
The inaugural Civil War tour aboard the Roman Holiday, Rome's public excursion boat, will show guests the city's historical vistas from a unique perspective and the power that the waters held in fighting Union Forces during the 1860s.
Captain Dennis Nordeman of Rome will lead the cruise down the river sharing local lore, key Civil War events and the Roman response to the war while pointing out the geography and various landmarks along the way.
The tour lasts approximately two hours. Space on the Roman Holiday is extremely limited and tickets must be purchased prior to the event. Tickets are $5 for adults, and $2 for children under 12. Passengers are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to departure and to dress comfortably, wearing rubber-soled shoes.
The event is sponsored by the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Rome as part of a 5-year commemoration series to educate citizens and visitors on the significant civil war history in Rome & Floyd County.
Tickets for the events are available exclusively at the Rome-Floyd Visitor Center, 402 Civic Center Drive. Call (706) 295-5576 or visit www.RomeGeorgia.org for more information.
