ROME, Ga. -- The Georgia Brass Band will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 13) in the Berry College Ford Auditorium.
This program, sponsored by the Fine Arts Department as part of their Guest Artists Concert Series, is free and open to the public.
Originating in 1999, the Georgia Brass Band has become a leading ensemble in the United States. The band is composed of volunteer members with backgrounds and professions that are as diverse as the music they play. Ranging from the Renaissance and Baroque to the 21st century, the band’s library includes marches and jazz tunes as well as classical transcription. The band is a consistent winner at the annual North American Brass Band Association Championships.
"The Georgia Brass Band concert provides our campus and community with a top-notch display of great brass music by talented individuals," said Assistant Professor of Music Adam Hayes. “It brings Atlanta-area musicians to our beautiful campus, and lets those professional musicians know who we are and gives them an idea of the dynamic offerings of our college and music department."
