FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Visitor center and gift shop to support breast cancer awareness

ROME, GA. — The Rome - Floyd Visitor Center and the Last Stop Gift Shop will partner with the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority at Shorter University to raise money for breast cancer research during the month of October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Throughout the month, the gift shop will be selling breast cancer awareness t-shirts, Tervis Tumblers, silicone awareness bracelets, sterling silver charm bracelets, Happy Cap jewelry and hand-painted awareness wine bottles. All proceeds from the sale of awareness items will benefit the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation.

On October 21, the gift shop and visitor center will celebrate a Day for the Cure by selling t-shirts to city, county and state employees in the Rome area. Government employees will unite and wear the shirts to support Breast Cancer Awareness.

Throughout October, Zeta Tau Alpha at Shorter University will hold multiple events on the campus to raise money for the Komen Foundation. The organization and Shorter students will unite with the local community on October 21 for Day for the Cure by wearing the Breast Cancer Awareness t-shirt available in the Last Stop Gift Shop.

Breast Cancer effects one in eight women and takes over 40,000 lives each year. The Susan G. Komen Foundation has worked since 1982 to fund breast cancer research, education, advocacy, health services and social support programs in the U.S.

To support breast cancer awareness and participate in the Day for the Cure, purchase a t-shirt at the Last Stop Gift Shop. The shop is located inside the Rome - Floyd Visitor Center at 402 Civic Center Drive, adjacent to the Rome Civic Center. For more information, call 706-295-5576.
