FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Tickets now available for annual downtown tours

ROME, GA. — Mingle with residents of Myrtle Hill and discover the dim, ghostly secrets of Downtown Rome during two tours slated for October. The Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau will host its annual Where Romans Rest: Myrtle Hill Cemetery Tours and Haunted on Broad: Ghost Lore & Haunted History on Saturday, October 15.

Where Romans Rest: Myrtle Hill Cemetery Tours allow visitors to learn more about the permanent residents and hear their story and significance to Rome. Tours depart at 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, & 11:30am from the main gate on Myrtle Street. The cemetery dates to 1857 and is the final resting place for 20,000 of Rome's most notable residents including 400 Civil War graves.

Haunted on Broad: Ghost Lore & Haunted History brings visitors throughout Downtown Rome to discover the history and lore of ghosts as told by the Seven Hills Tellers, a local organization of storytellers. Tours begin at 7:30 and 9:00pm and leave from the Midtown Transit Station on East First Street.

During the commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War, special emphasis will be placed on Civil War history throughout both tours.

Admission to either tour is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Both tours are a moderate to strenuous walk with steep steps and slopes involved. Stories are not intended for young children.

Tickets for both events are available at the Rome / Floyd Visitor Center, 402 Civic Center Drive. Call (706) 295-5576 or visit www.RomeGeorgia.org for more information.
