The Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers in conjunction with area public safety agencies will be hosting a September 11th Tribute. The Tenth Anniversary “A Day of Remembrance” will be held on Sunday, September 11,2011 from 2 PM until 6 PM at Rome’s Ridge Ferry Park. The event is free and the public is invited and encouraged to attend.
Rome-Floyd County public safety agencies along with, Gordon County, Polk County, Bartow County, Chattooga County, Georgia State Patrol and the Military will be on hand with equipment and demonstrations. Some of the equipment on display will be: Georgia State Patrol’s Helicopter, Bomb Squad Truck, SWAT Team Truck, Mobile Command Center, Emergency Management Rescue Equipment, Military Trucks and equipment, Rome Fire Department’s brand new RED Fire Engine, a Vintage 1948 Fire Truck and many more. Equipment tours and demonstrations will be from 2 PM until 4:15 PM.
The Memorial Service will begin at 4:30 PM, marked with a fly over by Tiger Flight. The flight team will fly the Missing Man Formation. Major General William T. Nesbit, the commander of the Georgia National Guard will be the keynote speaker. Rome Middle School Choir, Thankful Baptist Church Choir and North Rome Church of God Choir along with local musical artists will be performing throughout the day. The tribute will conclude with the Last Alarm by Rome Fire Department, a rifle salute by Gordon County Sheriff’s Department and a helicopter fly over by Life Force and Air Life of Georgia.
Free American Flags will be given out to the first 500 in attendance.
