Summer photo contest winners announced
ROME, GA. — The Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau (GRCVB) announced today that Lorri-Anna Tate of Armuchee, Ga. took top honors in the 100 Days of Summer Smiles Photo Contest.
Tate's winning photo shows 3-year old Tripp Watterson joyfully playing with chalk during a hot summer day in Armuchee.
Liz Hilburn of Rome took second place with a photo of her daughter smiling with flowers. Third place went to Megan Laipple of Rome for a photo of a graceful child walking through a garden in flowery dress.
Honorable mention photographers include: John Blalock of Lindale; Melanie Abney of Armuchee; Tannika King, Doug Hamil, Brandy Patterson and Kristen Brannon, all of Rome.
Over $500 in prizes will be awarded to winners. First, second and third place winners receive photo printing packages from the CVS Photo Center on Martha Berry Blvd., gas gift cards and a prize package from the Last Stop Gift Shop located inside the Rome - Floyd Visitor Center. Honorable mentions receive a prize package courtesy of the GRCVB.
The photo contest took place from May until August with online voting throughout the summer. Fans of the Georgia's Rome Facebook Fan Page were able to vote for their favorite photos through "likes."
GRCVB received over 200 entries, and all entries featured a person or animal to qualify for the contest.
"Our visitors consistently talk about how warm, welcoming and friendly that the Rome community is," said Chris Cannon, GRCVB director of communication. "All of the photos we received this year show the true joyful personality of Floyd County."
The Summer Photo Contest was sponsored by the CVS Photo Center located at 1905 Martha Berry Boulevard and the Last Stop Gift Shop located within the Rome - Floyd Visitor Center.
