Kinzers retire from visitor center
ROME, GA. – The GRCVB announced today that Jackie and Dwight Kinzer have retired from the Rome - Floyd Visitor Center following years of service to the Rome community.
Mrs. Kinzer has served as manager of the visitor center since 2004 while her husband has volunteered as the mail courier for the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau (GRCVB).
" Jackie has been the smiling face of our community for the thousands of visitors that come through our center each year," said Lisa Smith, GRCVB executive director. "Everyone remembers her warm, welcoming nature and their experience in Rome because of her."
The Kinzers were honored last week by the GRCVB at a reception held at the Victorian Rose Tearoom.
Prior her work at the visitor center, Mrs. Kinzer retired from the Rome - Floyd County Library where she served as the librarian of special collections since 1974.
"It's been a great pleasure to work with such great people and share the love of my adopted hometown," said Mrs. Kinzer. Born in Rhode Island, she has lived in Rome since 1969.
Mr. Kinzer is a retired professor of chemistry from Berry College and an avid fan of British cars.
The Kinzers plan to enjoy their retirement by traveling the country in their Morgan British sports car.
