Armuchee sophomore awarded tennis scholarship

ROME, GA. – Ebony Short of Armuchee High School has been awarded a full day scholarship to attend the John Isner Tennis Camp in Rome, Ga. next week.
She is the daughter of Michael and Carol Short of Rome. The 15-year-old has been playing tennis for seven years and started the game under Craig Jones, formerly of Horseleg Country Club. During the summer, she practices for three to five hours a day.
"I hope this scholarship will help me reach my dream of attending a Division I school on a full scholarship," said Short.
The John Isner Tennis Camp will be held at Berry College in Rome on July 17-21. Will Glenn, Associate Head Coach at the University of Georgia Men’s Tennis Team, will serve as camp director and head coach.
The camp goal is to offer junior players the opportunity to train and learn the skills and techniques that have propelled Isner to his current status as a top ranking tennis professional. Every skill level, from beginner to advanced, will receive emphasis during the camp.
The camp also includes a day trip to Atlanta to see Isner play in the Atlanta ATP Tournament.
