FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Tickets still available for Civil War events
ROME, GA. – Tickets are still available for two upcoming Civil War events focused on Jackson Hill and Fort Norton sponsored by the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau (GRCVB).
On Saturday, June 11 the GRCVB will present Spirits of the Civil War: Jackson Hill & Fort Norton. The event will feature 8th Regiment Cavalry reenactors explaining the historic vistas of the site in central Rome and a firing of a replica canon similar to those used at Fort Norton.
Dan Roper, publisher of Georgia Backroads, will compliment the program with a lecture on the historical significance of the remaining elements of the fort.
The program will begin at 6:30pm behind the Regional Development Office (RDC) on Jackson Hill. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. The tour is a moderate to strenuous walk with steps and very steep slopes involved. Bring blankets or chairs and no pets allowed. Parking is available at the RDC or the Civic Center.
On June 16, the GRCVB will host the Southern Paranormal Investigators to present evidence for paranormal activity throughout the former site of Fort Norton on Jackson Hill.
Following a multi-night investigation on the site, actual Civil War history will be compared to the evidence collected on sound and video.
The event begins at 7pm in the Civic Center. Tickets are $5 and the program is not recommended for children under 12.
