FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
GRCVB issues call for volunteers

ROME, GA. – The Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau (GRCVB) is actively recruiting new volunteers for travel, tourism and hospitality events.

The Rome REPS are a corps of volunteers who assist tourism officials with many aspects of the year-round events held in Rome. REPS stands for Real Extraordinary People Servers.

"Volunteers are the key to making the hundreds of events that we coordinate a success, and in return, bring economic impact to Rome and Floyd County," said Ann Hortman, GRCVB sports marketing and events coordinator.

The goal of the program is to organize a small army of volunteers that can be called upon to assist with tours, information booths, parking and hospitality areas.

During the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, there is a special need for volunteers who have a background in Civil War history or historical research. Amateur actors and actresses who are willing to dress in Civil War period attire are also being actively recruited.

"We've got a great start to the commemoration of the Civil War, but as we move into the peak of the anniversary we will need many more volunteers to assist us with large events," said Chris Cannon, GRCVB director of communication.

To sign-up, visit the GRCVB website to complete an online form. The signup form is located at www.romegeorgia.org/GreaterRomeCVB/Volunteers.aspx.
