Big Cat Quest announces winners
ROME, GA. – Officials of the Big Cat Quest Catfish Tournament announced winners of the May 7 tournament on Thursday. The tournament was held in conjunction with Waterfest XI.
Northwest Georgians Mike Edwards and William Gray took first place with a 5 fish weigh-in of 94.05lbs. The second place father and son team of David and George Harrison weighed 55.10lbs of catfish.
Third place winners were Sam Brooks and John Raines of Lafayette, Indiana. Fourth place winners were to the team of Lonnie Fountain, David Bruce, and Jonathon Chastain of Jasper, Georgia with 40.70lbs. Fifth place winners were Joseph Hightower and Jonathon Long with 40.20lbs.
The event was an team tournament and winning weights are based on the total weight of up to five catfish from 2-3 fishers. Over $10,000 was distributed to winners in cash and prizes.
Teams came from the states of Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, and Mississippi.
