Big Cat Quest returns to Rome for Waterfest
 
ROME, GA. – The Toyota Southern qualifier of the Bass Pro Shops Big Cat Quest will return to Rome on May 7 as part of the Waterfest XI festival.
 
The family friendly tournament showcases anglers striving to produce a top-five fish weigh-in during the one day, action packed event. The tournament has long been a favorite with all amateur fishing enthusiasts and pro’s alike.
 
The forth annual tournament is presented by Bass Pro Shops and Toyota Trucks and is hosted by the Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau.
 
For the first time, $10,000 cash will be guaranteed for winners. Biggest catfish of the day will be awarded a $500 purse and the five teams with the best weigh-ins will share the $10,000 guaranteed cash prizes.
 
Registration is Friday, May 6 from 4p.m. to 8p.m. in Ridge Ferry Park. Preregistration is available in the Rome – Floyd Visitor Center. Friday night will also host free catfish seminars and a meet the pros session from 5p.m. to 7p.m.
 
Tournament weigh-ins will begin on Saturday at 3p.m. and the public is invited to attend. The event will also air on the Ken Freeman Outdoors Show, a nationally broadcasted outdoor sport show.
 
As a part of Waterfest XI, the Big Cat Quest will also bring the world’s largest mobile fish tank to be filled with the local life of Rome’s rivers.
 
Open to the general public, the cost is $200 per team with all children 12 years and younger free. Information and registration can be found at the Rome – Floyd Visitor Center located at 402 Civic Center Drive or by calling 706.295.5576.
